
I am not worthy of anything other than condemnation from Jesus. I am not even worthy to cling and kiss the wounds he suffered for me. And I’m thinking about how I’ll fall to my knees, cling and kiss his wounded feet, and cry out over how unworthy I am to receive those words. I’m thinking about how one day, I’ll receive the same words Nick and so many others have received from Jesus. I keep thinking about how Nick isn’t inside the casket, he’s with Christ.īut I’m also thinking about myself. I keep thinking about how Nick is really where he belongs. I keep thinking about how Nick has entered into the joy of his master. As I look back on my life and my past, it seems as if it all was a lifetime ago now learning all that I have from the Spirit and seeking out the answers within the Word. These are the words that I personally spend the most time in thought about. The chorus is: “Well done, well done My good and faithful one Welcome to the place where you belong Well done, well done My beloved child.”Īnd I’ve been thinking about how Jesus has really said those words to Nick. The words that we all desire to hear from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The song is titled “Well Done”, and it’s by The Afters. Enter into the joy of your master.’”Īt the beginning of the funeral, we watched a video collage of Nick’s life, and the video was accompanied by a beautiful song I hadn’t heard before. In the middle of the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25:21, Jesus said: “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. Do the work that will have God say to you “Well done faithful servant.I was at my friend Nick Challies’ funeral earlier today, and through the songs about Jesus and the words about Nick at the funeral, Jesus’ words in Matthew 25:21 have been on my mind all day. Well Done, Thou Good and Faithful Servant Well Done, Thou Good and Faithful Servant Elder Ronald A. Jobs like evangelism invoke fear in most believers but bring the highest return. If we return to the verse notice this key line: Come and share your master’s happiness. Your Eternal Reward There is one meaning of well done good and faithful servant that can’t be overlooked. A lot of the Christian activity bears little fruit because people are afraid to do the work that has the highest return. The good and faithful servant is the one who will take this mantle and make a difference right where they are. What kind of return are you getting in the work you are doing for the Lord? I’m not here to judge you but keep you accountable. Because of that, the master told him, “Well done,” and promoted him. He doubled what he was given! That is a 100% return for his master. To the servant who received five talents, he came back with ten. We will be judged not on what we did while on earth but on the fruit of those labors. The master was interested in his return on investment, not on how they got there. This parable though it is about how this master’s servants used the money he had given them and the returns they received.


We interpret talents and those abilities that God has blessed us with. You can look at it from the perspective of how you use the gifts and talents God has given you, and you can look at it from the perspective of how you earn money. The parable of the talents can be interpreted in many ways. Enter into the joy of your Lord.’ Return on Investment His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. When you stand before Jesus, He will say, “Well done, faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21 Your efforts may not initially show much fruit, but over time, it will begin to compound, and you will be responsible for a mighty harvest. The same is true for your work for Jesus. Over the long haul, you can see your initial investment more than double. At the same time, you could see your money grow by over 20%.

You could lose all of your money in a matter of hours and have nothing left.
